On April 16, 1970, during the return trip to Earth, Lovell operates a Sony TC-50 audiocassette recorder on the pilot’s side of Aquarius , with the craft’s front window at left. The blue lunar contact light is at the bottom right of the panel at left, bounded by three white lines.

Lovell practices erecting the US flag during EVA training at KSC on December 4, 1969. The umbrella of the portable S-band antenna is at upper right. A smaller horizontal rod held the flag away from the pole, as if windblown. After the Apollo 11 crewmen had trouble fully extending the telescoping top rod, creating a rippled appearance, later crews intentionally left the rod partially retracted for the same effect.
